JAMMU, Aug 6: Minister of State for Transport and Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma has unanimously elected president of Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK) in the General Body Meeting of the Association held, here today.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Anil Gupta, Chairman of Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK), while Sanjeev Kumar Jhangra, Joint Secretray, Karate Association of India (KAI) was the observer deputed by the National Federation, Karate Association of India (KAI).
Ambedkar Gupta, former president, AKAJK has been elected as General Secretary of the Association, while Rahil Gupta and Rehana Javed have been elected as vice presidents. Raja Shabahat Iftikhar and Vishal Sharma have been elected as joint secretaries, while Deepika Chauhan has been elected as the treasurer of the Association.
Deepa Sharma, Shaveta Gupta, Hassan Khan and Rahul Sharma have been elected as Advisors (Executive Members) of the Association.
Apart from General Body members from all over the State, Sports Commission and Technical Commissions were appointed for the smooth functioning of the Association.
Tushar Jandial was appointed as president, while Mujahid Yaqoob was appointed as secretary of Sports Commission.
Umesh Rekhi was appointed as president and Anil Sharma was appointed as secretary of Technical Commission.
Meanwhile, the other faction of the Association termed the elections as illegal and unwarranted and said that the elections have been held by the bogus members who have no origin in the Association, who threw the Court directions into winds.
They said that the Sub Judge (CJM) Jammu has restrained Sports Council from holding the elections of the Amateur Karate Association.
