Sunil elected as Chairman of Poonch Municipality

POONCH, Oct 26: Ten councilors elected form different wards in the recently held Municipal elections today unanimously elected Advocate Sunil Sharma as Chairman of Poonch Municipal Council.
Councilors bestowed their full trust in the leadership qualities of Sunil Sharma and resolved that they are committed to work in for maintaining cordial relationships between different communities, for which the Poonch, City of Saints is popularly known, besides implementation of various schemes and subjects enshrined under different legislations for the beautification and all round development of the town. The newly elected Municipal Council is committed to usher a new era of development under the stewardship of Sunil Sharma, they added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sunil Sharma is a practicing advocate in the District & Sessions Court, Poonch for the last 25 years and had been vocal in addressing the grievances of the marginalised sections of the society. While speaking on the occasion he thanked all the councilors and the people of the city for reposing trust in him and assured them that he will work up to his full strength and in good faith.
Out of the 17 elected candidates in all the wards, 10 have supported Sunil Sharma and majority of them are independents. He has won elections as independent candidate from Ward No. 16 Purani Poonch. He happens to be the brother of PDP MLC, Yash Paul Sharma.
