UDHAMPUR, Oct 14: The student of Govt High School, Kund (Rassain) and locals of the area held protest demonstration, demanding repair of school building.
The protesting students and villagers raised slogans against the Education Department and District Administration, Udhampur.
They alleged that there was no repair of school building during last four years and student are forced to study in the unsafe building of this school, sanctioned under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) during 2014. They said the tender of the said contract stand allotted during March this year but no progress was witnessed. During rainy days children are facing a lot of difficulties. The issue was taken up with the Chief Education Office and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur several times but nothing was achieved.
They further said that Secondary School Examination (SSE) Centre, is located at High School Dhanas in Chenani Zone, about 35 kms on- foot through forest area which is filled with wild animals.
This area is unsafe for school children and the villagers already approached to the JKBOSE Chairman through headmaster Govt. HS Rassain to change the examination centre to Govt HS Rassain but the BOSE authorities have yet to act on the plea of the people of this area. The villagers have appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik intervene personally and resolve the issues.
Prominent among those who addressed the gathering included Ex-Sarpanch Sandhoor Singh, Amar Nath, Girdhari Lal, Mast Ram, Krishna Kumar, Raj Kumar, Kaku Ram, Shoukin Chand, Nasib Chand, Puran Chand, Shankar Dass, Ramesh Chander and others.
