JAMMU, Nov 7:  Due to unprecedented delay in  declaration of  re-evaluation results of the Semester-I exams, the students who have become eligible for appearing in the forthcoming Semester III exams, held a protest demonstration against denial of admission to them.
The aggrieved students, led by NPSU and ABVP activists, held a demonstration at GGM Science College and raised slogans against Jammu University. They alleged that due to the failure of Jammu University in timely declaring the re-evaluation result, they have been deprived of admission in Semester-III, the examinations of which are going to be held after two weeks.
The protest was led by Chetan Sharma and Siddharth Bhardwaj, who also addressed the students near entrance gate of Science College. The protesting students also blocked the road for some time and held JU responsible for the loss of one academic year.
“Due to very late declaration of 1st semester re-evaluation results, a large number of students are deprived of getting admission in 3rd semester and thus their whole year has been wasted due to negligence of the university,” they said.
They were also demanding postponement of Semester- I exams.  NPSU president Thakur Virender Singh urged Vice-Chancellor to intervene in to matter so that the aggrieved students can be saved from un-necessary harassment.
When contacted, Controller of Examination, Sanjeev Mahajan told the Excelsior that no aggrieved student had so far approached Jammu University, which would surely give a positive consideration to their genuine demands so that the eligible candidates may not suffer.
