Students protest for justice to victim of GMC molestation case

JAMMU, Feb 21: Demanding fast track trial and justice to the victim girl in GMC Jammu molestation case, a large number of students from Ladakh held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
Carrying placards and banners, the protesting students raised slogans in support of their demands and strict punishment to the alleged accused. The protesting boys and girls from Ladakh region were also joined by some local students, who supported their demand for speedy justice to the victim.
The protesting students also blocked the ever road in front of Jammu University for around half an hour thus paralyzing the traffic movement.
The protest demonstration was addressed by several student leaders and girls, who appealed the Government for fast track trial of the case so that the victim may get justice.
They also demanded setting up a special women cell in Jammu to exclusively deal with such cases of sexual harassment.
Expressing solidarity with the victim girl, speaker vowed to continue the struggle till the culprit is punished for the heinous act.
Earlier, a large number of Ladakhi students from different institutions in Jammu, assembled at the Jammu University and held a strong protest demonstration near the Fountain Point. Amidst raising of slogans in support of their demands, they marched towards the University main gate and staged a dharna on the road.
Later, the students dispersed off with an announcement to continue such protest demonstrations till all their demands for justice to the victim girl are conceded.
