RAJOURI, Sept 12: The students of Govt Higher Secondary School, Palma today held a strong demonstration and blocked Rajouri-Budhal road for about four hours in protest against the apathetic attitude of Education Department.
Reports said that students from local Govt School at Palma came out on the road at around 9 am and started protest demonstration. They also raised barricades on the Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal Road and sat on dharna. They shouted slogans against Director School Education Jammu and CEO Rajouri.
The students alleged that about 4-5 months back, this Govt High School was upgraded to the Higher Secondary level by the Govt but till date no staff was appointed by the Education authorities and no new 11th class was introduced. They said now when they went to the school to get admission in Class 11th, the Principal told them to go to Rajouri to get admission as he had no staff.
Later, SHO Rajouri moved to the spot but the students refused to lift dharna. A long traffic jam was created there. Then CEO Rajouri, arrived there with the intervention of DC and on his assurance to prove staff shortly, the students lifted dharna at around 1 pm.
