Student bodies seek to know fate of reports on lapse of funds, B Ed Colleges

JAMMU, July 9: Expressing apprehensions about the fate of committees and their findings, two student organizations have demanded uploading of the report of the Government panel formed to enquire into the reasons for lapse of funds allotted for development of offsite campus and also the observations of the various Inspection Committees on B Ed Colleges, on official websites.
Addressing a press-conference, here today, president of Jammu Youth Forum (JYF), Deepak Kumar sought to know the fate of Chief Secretary headed committee that was constituted to probe the reasons leading to lapse of Rs 80 crore, meant for development of offsite campuses and fix responsibly of university officers involved in surrendering the funds without full utility the same within the stipulated time period.
“There seems something fishy about few interested forces in the university who might be trying to get the enquiry report hushed up to shield the erring officials /officers,” he alleged and urged the Chief Minister who is also Pro Chancellor of Jammu University to personally intervene and ensure the findings of committee are made public by uploading the same on Government website for general information.
Meanwhile, NSF State president Dr Vikas Sharma also addressed a press conference and alleged that Inspection Committee Reports on B Ed Colleges were kept under wrap and no action was taken on their observations.
“The reports have clearly stated that B Ed colleges won’t fulfill prescribed norms hence their affiliation should not be extended. But, the Director CDC instead of recommending action, playing silently,” he said and alleged illegal enrollment of students in these B Ed Colleges, which were running without regular Principals and teachers.
Dr Sharma demanded that all those inspection reports should be made available on varsity website and put into public domain so as to bring transparency into the functioning of CDC. He also demanded action on the loopholes highlighted by the committees so that corruption may be checked.
