Strengthening LAC infrastructure

Government of India is taking very concrete and decisive steps to strengthen its infrastructure along LAC in Eastern Ladakh to meet the requirements of our Defence Forces. Reports are coming in about enhanced activities of China in the Gilgit Baltistan region under illegal occupation of Pakistan that poses threat to the security of India along its northern border. Notwithstanding the recent friendly visit of Prime Minister to China and the cordialities that have been exchanged, the intentions of PLA are not clear and cannot be taken for granted. China has immensely improved its infrastructure along LAC on its side. India needs to meet the infrastructure so that balance of power remains stable in the sector and peace is ensured. The Defence Minister, who was recently on a visit to Ladakh, has issued clear orders of developing road connectivity right up to the border in Eastern Ladakh. It is found that rail connectivity is prohibiting for the time being for various physical reasons, but road connectivity has to be improved and made effective to give teeth to the defence of India in this barren stretches of Eastern Ladakh.
Fortunately, Modi Government is not disposed to fall in the trap of Chinese soft phraseology but hard decisions on the ground. We cannot remain complacent against the ever widening and intensifying activity of the PLA in Ladakh and Arunachal sectors. The relieving factor is that the Defence Minister has made it clear that the Government will supply most sophisticated weaponry to the Indian defence forces including ITBP and other organizations to match that of China. We do not want to be caught on the wrong foot. The Environment Ministry has been asked to clear the project of network of border roads in Ladakh at its earliest. These decisions will be received well by the nation. The Government needs to tell the nation that it will not be caught napping again and that India has the power and capacity to defend its borders. The message should go to both of our adversaries.
