Streamlining paramilitaries

With increase in terror, crime and other social ills, there is great pressure on paramilitary forces in the country to counter the nefarious designs and sabotaging attempts of these malevolent factors. The Home Ministry is constantly considering effective measures of making deep inroads into the camps of these dissidents and anti-national elements.  There are seven Central Armed Police Forces — Assam Rifles (AR), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard (NSG) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The Home Ministry has decided to provide these paramilitary forces with intelligence force to maximise their operational capability. There are other plans as well like constructing residential quarters for the families of the intelligence chapters that have to be deployed for field service. The Home Ministry is also considering induction of women recruits so that the ratio of women candidates in these forces goes up.
We appreciate this good decision of the Home Ministry. We would recommend that the people living on the border close to LoC should be given priority for recruitment to paramilitaries and their intelligence wings. At the same time the Government should also give thought to the idea of raising a regiment of the Gujjars, Bakarwals and border dwellers in J&K who could be very effective in countering the infiltrating Pakistani jihadis.
