Stop discrimination with Jammu: NPP

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 27: Zonal president of NPP Neeraj Gupta has alleged that Government is hatching conspiracy against the people of Jammu and depriving them of the basic facilities and share in jobs.
In a press statement here Gupta said that the official language of our state is Urdu, but the Government is least bothered to make it compulsory at the school level in Jammu also. The infrastructure should be established and Urdu teachers provided in Jammu region so that people of Jammu can easily become literate in Urdu language. With this, the youth of Jammu can also get jobs in Revenue department and Judiciary.
It is very unfortunate that Government is one after another including the languages in XIII schedule, but fails to maintain the rich heritage and culture. Even after recognition of these languages in XIII schedule, they don’t get recognition. The reason behind this is that due to lack of scope in the Government jobs the people opt for the official languages.
In Jammu negligible number of people are literate in Urdu, but in Srinagar over 99 % are Urdu knowing. Gupta demands that the Government should stop discrimination and ensure that each language get respect, but not at the cost of future of youths of Jammu.
He said that Urdu should be made compulsory at the school/college level in Jammu also, so that the people of Jammu may also get proper and equal share in Government jobs. He said people should not be exploited in the name of language.
