Stop caste based reservation quota in country: GCPF

JAMMU, Jan 13: The General Category People’s Forum (GCPF), Jammu (Unit) has appealed the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring an end to caste based reservation quota which is weakening the roots of our strong nation or get ready to face country wide agitation from general categories in comings days.
Addressing a meeting of the Forum members, president of  GCPF, Yash Paul Sharma said that discrimination on the basis of caste, religion and region is a shame and is an act of human rights violation. This system has spoiled basics of democracy and further weakening our country. Initially, it was done only for ten years by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and now it is being extended every time by our politicians for the sake of losing their vote bank. The time has come to undo this political and historic blunder, which deprived a larger section of society of their fundamental rights.
He warned that the attitude of political class and its act of promoting casteism and communalism, and sacrificing national interest for the lust of power would be serious ramifications. Sharma strongly demanded bringing end to the caste based reservation, quota, special privileges  and concessions as their continuation is violation of Article 14 of Indian Constitution.
Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Forum accused the Government of pursuing the politics of caste, religion and region which is detrimental to the unity and brotherhood. He said that  communal amity, harmony, equality, justice and dignity have been the hall mark of the Forum.   He said the time has come to do away with this caste based quota and provide fair justice to youth of all the communities.
Som Nath Sharma, secretary general of the Forum alleged that Governments snatch out of the poor’s pockets of the other communities and providing concessions and privileges to the rich through reservation which is inhuman. He appealed the Government to take concrete steps to bring an end to the political corruption  and nepotism  and sought removal of corrupt ministers and bureaucrats. He also sought implementation of Singhal Committee Report.
Prominent among others who also spoke on the occasion included V K Sharma & Bhushan Pargal – vice presidents, Deepak Khajuria -secretary, K K Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Capt Tulsi Dass Sharma, Raghubir Singh, Madan Lal and Ravi Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
