JAMMU, Feb 8: Jammu and Kashmir State Karate team was selected to participate in KAI Senior National Championship, 2016 to be held on February 14, at Karakutty, Adlux in Kerala.
The event is being organised by Karate Association of India (KAI), recognized by Govt. of India.
Even days training camp was conducted from Jan 29 to February 8 at Gandhi Bhawan Hall, Jammu in which the medal winners of senior events of State Karate Championship participated.
The team was finally selected today after the screening at Gandhi Bhawan Hall, Jammu by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK) under the technical supervision of Ambedkar Gupta, president, AKAJK and other officials including Amit Sangra, Umesh Rekhi and Mujahid Yaqoob. The other guests who were present on the occasion were Rehana Begum and Sandeep Singh, Secretary, Gandhi Seva Sadan.
The players selected in Male-Kumite and Kata event included Balvir Singh, Ashwani Kumar Bhagat, Yuvraj Singh, Sumit Sharma, Rajan Khajuria, Anchal Kumar Sharma, Sahil Singh, Ajay Gill, Jogesh, and in Female-Kumite and Kata event included Tanisha Mahajan, Deepa Sharma, Azra Khatoon and Jahanvi.
The team will be led by Mujahid Yaqoob as Male Team Manager and Shaveta Gupta as Female Team Manager.
