State Chess C’ship concludes

SRINAGAR, Jan 5: The State Chess Championship concluded here Sheri Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar. 135 player of J&K State participated in this Championship including 35 girls. It was first time players from Ladakh division and Karnah, Tangdar participated in this championship. Total 5 round under Swiss system were played in this championship. The main sponsor of the event was  J&K State Sports Council.
Joint Secretary Sports Council Zamir Ahmad was Chief Guest along with Guest of Honours,  Sports Officer Kashmir Nuzhat, Manager Bakshi Stadium Gazala, Tulal Manager Indoor Sports Stadium, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Shah  and Bilquis Mir members of Sports Council disturbed the prizes and cash prizes  among position holders. Khalid Amin Gojwari  won  the State  Chess Championship 2016-17 in senior category.
Saqlain Afaq bagged under 19 category, Irfan Majeed won  under 17 category, Zubair Ahmad won  under 15 category, Syed Mohsin  won  under 13 category,  Ahmad Bin Altaf won  under 11  category, Mohd Gous Banday won  under 7 category. In girls senior Sana Mukhtar clinched the title. Saima Shafi won under 25 Category, Bishmah Afshan won the under 19 category, Mushinah Farooq won under 17 category, Zobia Riyaz won under 15 category, Mehroz Sajad won under 13 category, Ambroz Sajad won the under 09 category. Mohd Gous Banday  and Ambroz Sajad was awarded youngest participants while Rajinder Singh was awarded by Chess loving person.
