Stadium XI Kathua lifts SCA T20 Championship

KATHUA, Jan 3: Stadium XI Kathua trounced Young Star XI Kathua by 21 runs in a thrilling contest and lifted the State Cricket Academy T20 Cricket Championship at Cricket Stadium, here today.
Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while, Pawan Kumar Sharma Zonal Officer YSS Manpur was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and the guests of honour distributed cheques of cash prizes among the winners and runners-up teams which included Rs 50,000 for winner, Rs 30, 000 for runner team, Rs 5000 for man of the series, Rs 2,000 each for best all-rounder, best bowler, best batsman and for youngest and emerging player.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, Member Sports Council Jammu, Former Ranji Trophy Player and Chief Coordinator of the event presented a detailed report about the ten day long tournament.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest applauded the initiative of the JKSCC for conducting cricket. He also announced that a special coaching camp will be organized in near future for the youths of the Kathua.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Stadium XI Kathua won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Arvind top scored with 31 runs while Prashant  contributed 27 runs to the total. Monty was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 wickets, while Sanjay and Ankush claimed 1  wicket each.
In reply, Young Stars managed to score 138 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, thus lost the match by 21 runs. Rohit played a magnificent innings of 39 runs in the initial overs of the game and was well supported by Shivam Sharma with 34 runs. For bowling side, Arvind took 4 important wickets, while Taginder and Rompy  bagged one wicket each.
Arvind was adjudged as man of the match, best bowler and man of the series for his outstanding show in the tournament, Shivam Sharma was declared as the best batsman. Nehal Khajuria was declared as the emerging player of the tournament.
