SSP inaugurates capsule course for law and order, crowd control

JAMMU, Mar 13: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Sunil Gupta inaugurated week long joint training capsule course for law and order and crowd control at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.
Besides the trainees of District Police Jammu, SP Headquarters, SP City South, CPO DPO Jammu, Deputy SP DAR and other police officer and Magistrates (nominated by ADM) were also present on the occasion.
Keeping in view of challenging policing and upcoming summers in Jammu it was imperative for police force to impart them special training to deal with law and order problems for safety of public, public property and self while dealing with agitated mob (protests). The main focus of the capsule course is to use minimum force on public while dealing with agitations, protests, rallies and to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
During introduction of course, SSP Jammu informed the jawans and officers about new strategy to deal with mob i.e. discussion with public, mediation, warning through banners, role of media, use of concertina wire to stop the mob, use of water cannon and use of tear smoke to disperse the mob. The trainees were shown video clips “how to face law and order situation”. He also told the role and responsibility of Magistrate during law and order situation.
Chief Prosecuting Officer Vikraant Sharma briefed the trainees about the provision of law during law and order.
After briefing session, the trainees fully equipped with law and order gears were put on practical training in the ground.
