Srinagar youth held ahead of joining militant ranks in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: A youth from downtown Srinagar, who was allegedly about to join militant ranks, was apprehended by police in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.

“The youth, Obaid Ashraf Khan, a resident of Rainawari downtown Srinagar, was in contact with a Pakistan-based militant though WhatsApp. The militant had persuaded the youth to join militant ranks,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone told reporters here today.

However, he said the police was tracking the youth and on Tuesday hours before he was about to join the militants, the youth was apprehended in Ganderbal. (AGENCIES)
