Srinagar records hottest day

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: Kashmir valley today witnessed season’s hottest day with temperature in Srinagar rising upto 17.8 degree Celsius, nine notches above normal.
A Meteorological Department official said the maximum temperature in Srinagar rose to 17.8 from 15.7 degree Celsius today while the minimum temperature settled at 0.8 degree Celsius.  The night temperature was recorded 0.6 degree.
There was a bright sunshine in Kashmir valley throughout the day. There has been significant increase in temperature this winter in Kashmir valley while ‘Chillai Kalan’ saw very less snowfall.
Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir, recorded 17.8 degree Celsius maximum temperature while night temperature settled at -1.4 degree Celsius. Pahalgam tourist destination recorded 14.9 degree Celsius day temperature while night temperature settled at -3.3 degree Celsius.
Kupwara in North Kashmir recorded a maximum of 16.5 degree Celsius in the day and -1.5 degree Celsius in the night. Similarly, the Kokernag tourist destination also recorded 16.5 degree Celsius maximum temperature and mercury in the night settled at 1.8 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg, recorded 7 degrees Celsius maximum temperature while the night temperature settled at -1.4 degree Celsius. Leh, recorded a maximum of 9.2 degree Celsius and the night temperature was recorded -9.9 degree Celsius.  Kargil recorded 6 degree Celsius maximum temperature while night temperature settled at -9.0 degree Celsius.
The weatherman, meanwhile, has predicted dry weather till 9th of this month. The MeT official said maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 11 degree Celsius and -2 degree Celsius respectively in Srinagar tomorrow.
