JAMMU, Feb 9: Squash Individual Championship in the men’s category was held at the ultra modern Squash Courts of KC Sports Club, here today.
Sixteen members participated in the tournament with immense zeal and healthy competitive spirit.
At the end of the preliminary fixtures, Sourab Abrol and Shubam faced each other in the first semifinal. Sourab turned out stronger of the two and beat Shubam with a score of 10-8, 10-3. The second semifinal was played between Vinay Wanchoo and Ajay in which Vinay emerged winner with a score of 10-8, 10-7 against his opponent.
The final match was played between Sourab Abrol and Vinay Wanchoo. Sourab turned out to be a cliff hanger and eventually Vinay Wanchoo carried the day with a slim margin in all the 3 sets with the score of 10-9, 8-10 and 10-8. Thus Vinay Wanchoo emerged champion of the tournament followed by Sourab Abrol in the second place.
