Spy ring busted

Spying on the enemy is an old practice. Even in ancient times, spying on the enemy was observed and put to great use in wars. However, espionage has undergone sea change with the revolution in information technology. With modern gadgets of communication, it has become very simple and quick to convey reports, information, messages and pictures from any part of the world.
India and Pakistan have elaborate espionage systems in place. Governments are aware of it, and that is why counter-espionage mechanism has been devised. Counter espionage functionaries of Delhi Police got a wink of two BSF personnel in Rajouri involved in espionage on behest of Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO) and its Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).  BSF Head Constable Abdul Rashid son of Fazal Hussain, a resident of Manjakote, Rajouri, presently posted in Intelligence wing of the Agency and Kafait Ullah Khan alias Master Raja son of Qudrat Ullah R/o Kalai, Mandi, presently posted as Laboratory Assistant in Government High School, Manjakote in Rajouri district have been nabbed by Delhi Police in concert with State police. They are charged with passing on sensitive information to PIO and ISI of Pakistan through electronic media and messages without conversing by mobiles lest their conversation was monitored. They are reported to be trying to establish a network of intelligence gathering activists as directed by the ISI sleuths.
Three more persons have been nabbed by the Kolkata police on charges of having clandestine inks with ISI and their other conduits.  The arrested persons are charged with passing on crucial strategic information to their handlers in Pakistan.
It is very unfortunate that a functionary of BSF should have succumbed to the allurement of Pakistani agent and agreed to betray the country and the trust it placed in him. He was associated with the intelligence wing of BSF somewhere in Rajouri. The BSF is a remarkable force that is rendering great service to the security of the country. A functionary of this organization should have been the last to be tempted and seduced by Pakistani intelligence agency.  While we condemn the act of betrayal of the trust of the nation and demand that the culprit should be treated in accordance with the law of the land, we also laud the alertness of the Police in busting the espionage racket. Sadly it makes us believe that there could be more attempts of espionage in other services. As such the Home Ministry needs to issue special instructions to all major security organizations in the country to be pro-active in unearthing espionage networks, which the ISI has established within our civil society.
