Spy arrested with Pak SIMs

JAMMU, Oct 21: One person was arrested in espionage case while two Pakistani SIM cards and map were seized from him in border belt of Ramgarh area in Samba district today.
“Based on the information received from Military Intelligence regarding involvement of one Bodh Raj of village Changiia, Tehsil Arnia, of Jammu district for his espionage activities and passing on vital information regarding deployment and movement of security forces and Army to Pakistan, a search operation was launched in Ramgarh sector of Samba,” official spokesman said.
He said that during the search operation, individual was found roaming in suspicious circumstances in Jerda village one and half km away from IB and on observing the movement of police party, he tried to escape. “Police party acted promptly and after a hot chase, he was apprehended from the spot,” he said adding that upon his personal search two Pakistani SIM cards, one map showing deployment of forces, two Indian made mobile phones and one memory card besides Rs 1711 were recovered from his possession.
He said he had made markings of various spots on the map and police is investigating this too.
“All the recovered items were seized besides arresting the said accused person,” said the spokesman adding that a case has been registered against the accused under Section 13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 3 Official Secret Act while the investigation of the same has been taken up.
Spokesman said the operation was jointly launched by local police and SOG under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Joginder Singh.
Police said he was using the Pakistani SIM to leak the information.
He has been put on sustained interrogation and his past case history is also being ascertained. The Memory card used by him will also be scrutinized to ascertain more facts.
