8Born on April 30, 1987, Rohit Gurunath Sharma is an Indian International cricketer. The ace cricketer, who is also a right arm off break bowler was born in Nagpur. Sharma made his ODI debut against Ireland on June 23, 2007. He has played 126 ODI matches till date with best score of 264 runs, the highest ODI score in cricketing history, surpassing Virender Sehwag’s world record of 219 runs. He is the only player to score two double centuries in ODI cricket. He also holds the record of scoring most boundaries in an ODI match. He has played only 7 Test matches till date and has scored 489 runs at an average of 49, with best score of 177 runs. He has palyed 42 T20 Internationals and has scored 739 runs with 7 fifties to his name. Sharma first played on domestic circuit in 2005 and scored unbeaten 142 runs against North Zone in Deodhar Trophy, which brought him into limelight. He made his Ranji Debut against Baroda in 2006-07 tournament and has scored 5,135 runs in 62 First Class matches with a brilliant average of 61.13, including triple century (309 runs). He also has a healthy IPL record as he has scored 2903 runs in 112 IPL matches with one hundred. He is currently the captain of Mumbai Indians and Mumbai domestic team. He is an emerging player and has established himself as the best choice as opener in Team India.
