Sports Council XI drubs Zabarwan CC to enter semis in Chief Minister’s Cup

JAMMU, Mar 28: Formi-dable Sports Council XI thrashed Zabarwan Cricket Club Srinagar to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Over Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, being organized by J&K State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, here.
Earlier, batting first, Sports Council XI scored a decent total of 211 runs. Khalid top scored with 57 runs, while Abid Nabi contributed magnificent 55 runs to the total. Explosive Manzoor Dar scored quick-fire 24 off 7 deliveries, while Zahid and Nadeem Dar chipped in with 20 and 10 runs respectively. For Zabarwan Club, Sajjad took 4 wickets, while Irfan and Muneeb claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In reply, Zabarwan Cricket Club bundled out for 126 runs in 23 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 85 runs. Ashiq was the top scorer with 29 runs, while Nayeem contributed 12 runs to the total. For Sports Council XI, genuine quick bowler, Mehjoor Ali took 4 important wickets, while Abid Nabi claimed 2 wickets. For his all-round display, Abid Nabi was declared as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Amit Gupta and Sadiq Hussain Malik as umpires, while the Tournament is being held in the memory of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister, under the overall supervision of Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy, Gharota.
