Sports activities need to be promoted among youth: Ganga

SAMBA, Dec 29: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga said that sports are most powerful tool to develop positive approach among youth and said that to encourage our young generation to participate in sports activities, we need to promote such activities.
The Minister was speaking during the closing ceremony of Two day volleyball tournament under Civic Action Programme (CAP) organized by 38 Battalion CRPF at Sports Stadium Smailpur here, today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister applauded the efforts of CRPF to promote sports and cultural activities among youth of the area. He urged CRPF to take more such initiatives under civic action programme which further provides a platform to the youth of the State to exhibit their talent. He encouraged the students to do the best in sports besides academic achievements and assured all possible help from Government for achievement of academic as well as sports goals.
The Minister laid stress on the need for a balance convergence of academics and sports in schools to meet the essential requirement of modern education system.
Ganga said that there is a tremendous sports potential among the boys and girls and said that with the availability of improved facilities and increasing opportunities, they will excel in all sports and games adding time has come for the youth of J&K to demonstrate their talents and bring laurels to the State in the various sports events at the national and international levels.
Eight Teams participated in the tournament and the final match was played between Barjani Club and Smailpur Club which was won by Barjani Club.
The Minister also distributed prizes among the winner and runner up teams.
Commandant 38 Battalion CRPF, school staff and students attended the concluded ceremony.
Later, the Minister also inaugurated Trade Fair cum amusement show at Bari Brahmna. He appreciated the organizers for organizing such event in the area.
