SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Driven by passion to perform, a large number of specially-abled persons with different levels of handicap participated in the mega sports day organised by the Sports Club of the Voluntary Medicare Society at its Bemina campus here today.
The participants from all ages and gender participated in the sports event defeating the handicap they have been living with. The youngest participant was 4 years old Adnan and the senior most sports person who participated in Javelin throw even was Mr Mohamad Amin Rawa.
Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi who was the chief guest at the sports event in his inaugural address while declaring the mega sports day open lamented that no politician could find time to afford encouragement to the specially-abled children. He lauded the role of the sports club of the Voluntary Medicare Society for organising such mega event that too in a flawless manner attracting a very large participation.
Earlier, Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, founder President of VMS formally welcomed the guests and participants and hoped that they will enjoy the events. The games organised included cricket for the visually impaired, hockey match for the handicapped and amputees, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, wheelchair Race and badminton for spinal injury patients.
