Speaker inaugurates construction work of link road

JAMMU, Nov 9: Speaker  Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said youth should be motivated to pursue higher studies in their choice of fields so that they can become active participants in nation building process.
The Speaker said this while inaugurating construction works for the link road connecting Sant Mela Singh College of Education with main Digiana Camp road. Being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 lakh by the JMC, the project also includes establishing systematic drainage system along the road.
Addressing the gathering, the Speaker said that the construction of this road will facilitate the students of the college by providing them good connectivity which is essential in supporting and strengthening the basic education infrastructure in the State.
The Speaker further said that concerted efforts are being made to develop and upgrade the basic infrastructure available to the people in the State.
Later, the Speaker visited Belicharana site identified for rehabilitation of the people displaced due to their lands being included in the proposed extension plans for Jammu Airport.
The people informed the Speaker that land map has already been drawn for this site and plots have been marked for allotment.
The Speaker assured the people that he will review the modalities of the case and ensure that the process for allotment and site development is expedited further.
