Speaker calls for sensitizing people regarding welfare schemes

KATHUA, Sept 15: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today kick started the up-gradation work of road from Nagrota Gujroo to Kah at Billawar under NABARD, covering a length of 6 KM , costing Rs 4 cr, to be executed by PWD(R&B).
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker emphasized on generating apt awareness among the villagers regarding several welfare schemes to reap the maximum benefit.
Dr Singh sought active public participation in rural developmental programmes initiated by the Government and called for regular public grievances camps to redress the grievances of people in rural pockets.
He informed that under PMGSY and NABARD, a total of 21 and 2 roads, respectively, were laid in Billawar to improve overall connectivity scenario.
At village Kah, several deputations apprised the Speaker of problems being faced by them which mainly comprises of tiger menace in their area, installation of hand pumps for water stressed areas and developing animal husbandry for proper treatment of their livestock.
Dr Singh listened to their grievances and assured them that their demands will be resolved in a time bound manner.
Later, the Speaker inaugurated 7 additional class rooms at Government High School building at Upper Rajwalta, costing of Rs 92 lakhs.
After inauguration, the Speaker addressed a huge gathering and informed that development works worth Rs 700 cr were initiated in Billawar for its holistic development. He directed the XEn PWD to complete the survey of 8 KM road from Kuthlair to Mastgarh at the earliest so that work can be started on time.
On being apprised with the demand of toilet complex in school, the Speaker directed the concerned officer to provide clean sanitation facility in the school premises.
He asked the concerned officers to assess the developmental need of the area and instructed them to put in place a proper mechanism to meet the aspiration of the locals.
ADC, Joginder Singh Rai, SDPO, XEN PWD Basholi, Tehsildar Ramkot and other divisional level officers were present on the occasion.
