JAMMU, Oct 20: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today inaugurated Digital X-Ray machine and Interventional Pain Clinic at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar in presence of Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Rs. 1 crore Digital Radiology System is having all the advanced technological features with user friendly applications.
After inaugurating the X-Ray machine and pain clinic, Bali said that Government would bring more reforms to further improve the healthcare delivery system particularly in remote and far-flung areas of the State. He urged upon the health fraternity to redouble their efforts to maintain the tempo of better delivery of health services to the patients. He said that people have high expectations from the medical fraternity and they should continue to perform their duties with best of their abilities and as per medical ethics.
The Minister said that Gandhi Nagar Hospital is being equipped with all advanced medicare facilities to cater to the increasing rush of patients and reduce pressure on Government Medical College (GMC) and Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital (SMGSH).
Bali further directed the hospital authorities to maintain hygienic environment in the hospital. He asked the management of the hospital to ensure completion of all ongoing repair works.
The Minister was apprised that in the intervention pain clinic, the treatment of head, shoulder, elbow, hips, knees, heals, neck, back, wrist, lower back ankles pain etc will be provided to the ailing.
Kavinder Gupta while speaking on the occasion said that upgradation and improvement in the hospitals and extensions of healthcare facilities to rural and border areas has been accorded high priority.
Earlier, the Minister also presented an appreciation certificate to Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Leprosy Surgeon for his meritorious services.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Medical Superintendent, Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Dr. Madhuri Slathia, Dy. Suptt, Dr. Arun Sharma besides senior doctors were also present on the occasion.
Later, the Minister paid surprise visit to GMC and reviewed its functioning. He visited different wards, 24X7 Discount Dispensary, Mechanical Wings, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Ayush Unit and newly constructed Isolation Ward. He also interacted with patients and attendants and took stock of the services being provided to them.
Principal GMC, Dr. Zahid Geelani, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Dy. Superintendent and other senior officers accompanied the Minister.
