SPCAs holds meeting

JAMMU, Feb 28: Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) meeting was held in Deputy Commissioners Office here, today. It was hosted by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta. The meeting was held with the motive of constitution and effective functioning of  District SPCA Jammu.
The meting was informed that the Central Government has notified the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Establishments and Regulation of Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Rules, 2001 on 26 . 3 . 2001 wherein it has been mandated that every State Government will establish a SPCA for every district in the State. The  rules regarding the Managing Committee of SPCA, the powers and responsibility of the society to make the SPCAs functional and active to implement the mandate given in the said rules.
This meeting was attended by officers from various Government departments, social activists and educationists.
Various issues pertaining to animal abuse was discussed and framing of bylaws of the SPCA Jammu were also approved for registration with Registrar Societies.
