Son of the soil wins silver

It is a matter of satisfaction and a moment of pride for the State of Jammu and Kashmir that an ace shooter wins a silver medal in the recently held Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Chain Singh, son of the soil and a seasoned shooter missed the coveted gold by just a whisker.
Chain Singh won this feat in the men’s 50m Rifle Prone event at ISSF World Cup at Munich in Germany. Hailing from village Chancer Gandoh in District Doda, Chain Singh has once again kept the State’s flag fluttering high at the International scene by his feat.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir has many promising young men and women aspiring to prove their mettle in not only State and National levels but at the International events too.  The State can register its due place in National and International levels in sports fields like swimming, shooting, wrestling, kabadi, cricket, football, even gymnastics since a lot of talent is available but infrastructural facilities, coaching and grooming like important aspects are not up to the mark. We can have more sportspersons to excel in different fields to leave an impeccable mark in winning medals provided proper training and facilities were provided by the Government.
