Some MLAs of suspended Assembly released CDF grants: NPP

JAMMU, July 7: Led by their party Chairman Harsh Dev Singh, National Panthers Party (NPP) activists here today staged a protest demonstration demanding stoppage of operation of finances and Constituency Development Fund (CDF) by the members of suspended Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir.
The protesters alleged malpractices and irregularities in the release of CDF grants and said that there exists a nexus of politicians and officers in release of such funds.
They demanded that the Governor should intervene into this and raised slogans against Planning and Rural Development Department (RDD).
Talking to reporters Harsh Dev said that members of suspended Assembly are not entitled to exercise powers and privileges which are available to them in case of regular Assembly and hence they (MLAs) can’t exercise financial powers to release the CDF grants.
“Several MLAs had got backdoor estimates prepared from certain government departments with a highly notorious RDD being in the lead and they had manoeuvred the issuance of a highly irregular order from the Planning Department for release of CDF grants in respect of estimates already prepared,” Harsh Dev said.
He revealed that one of the MLAs had spent merely 70-80 lakh rupees in three and half years but had issued backdated letters for the release of over six crores of CDF on a single day after the suspension  of Assembly.
Speaking on the occasion Yash Paul Kundal, President Young Panthers called for strict vigil and due surveillance over all such alleged irregular practices in view of alleged nexus of politicians and officers.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Partap Singh, Shanker Singh Chib and others.
