JAMMU, Feb 28: Panun Kashmir (PK) president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo today said that policies adopted by successive Central governments during last over six decades towards the J&K are responsible for the present mess in the frontier State.
The PK leader was addressing the activists meeting here today. While commenting on the statement of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States who yesterday said that “the country will not allow premium on anti-India activism and there is a need for drawing a bottom line to check such activities”, said the seriousness in the statement suggests reflection of the present Government’s resolve in this context. This is a fact of history that the previous successive governments at the Centre allowed the theory of soft-secessionism to be nurtured for the most of post-independence period due to political expediency, he added.
Chrungoo said the case of J& K is a glaring example in this context. What has happened over the last more than six decades in the State is actually the outcome of the soft and inconsistent State policy of the government of India. The governments, one after the other, looked the other way in regard to secessionism, anti-national propaganda and fundamentalism in Kashmir.
The cocktail of fundamentalism, secessionism and terrorism was consequently provided nourishment particularly when the State of Pakistan was always ready to create its surrogates in the J&K State. The genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass exodus of minority Hindus from Kashmir were also put under the carpet in the garb of secularism and freedom of speech. The so-called slogan of Azadi and anti-India activism were made a part of doing politics of convenience and indulging in anti-national activities.
PK condemned all those forces who justify terrorism, stone-pelting and the so-called uprising against India in the name of freedom of expression. Indian nation is a sovereign State and no force on the earth can even think of destabilizing the solid fabric of unity and integrity of India. The nationalist forces have laid their lives in the State of Jammu and Kashmir for its total integration with the rest of India and the valiant security forces have exhibited profound heroism and attained martyrdom while protecting the sovereignty and integrity of India. The forces that are hell bent upon to reverse the clock are living in a fool’s paradise.
Panun Kashmir appeals to the government to take effective steps to bring to justice all those responsible for crimes against humanity in Kashmir and elsewhere in the country. This will embolden the nationalist forces, including the exiled Kashmiri Pandit community, in the frontline J&K State in order to play their role fearlessly as patriotic citizens of the country.
