KATRA, Sept 11: 31st Academic Council meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, was held here today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr Sanjeev Jain.
During the meeting, 20 agenda items related to Academics, Research, Admission, Placement and Administration were discussed along with the action taken report on the resolutions of the last Academic Council.
During the meeting, the items of ratification and reporting highlighted the improved academic and admission status of the University.
The meeting was attended by Prof (Emeritus) K K Biswas; Prof Sunil Pandey and Prof S Dharmaraja of IIT Delhi; Prof Rajesh Srivastava IIT, Rorkee and Lokesh Saxena, Managing Director, DISA India Ltd., in house Deans and Heads of various Schools and other officials.
Pertinent to mention that Academic Council is the highest academic body of the University, which takes important decisions related to all academic issues of the University.
The external experts were impressed by the progressive steps taken by the Vice Chancellor, chiefly 10 percent incentive on basic salary to highly performing faculty members and the provision of research and start up grant for newly joined faculty members. The external members shared quality suggestions which were incorporated for further improvements.
