KATRA, May 19: With a view to create a competitive atmosphere to improve the quality of the young shooters both male and female who are undergoing regular specialized coaching in Shrine Board’s Centre of Excellence, the Sports wing of Shrine Board under the control and guidance of Ashok Kumar, Director Sports and under the patronage of Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer organized two days Intra-mural Rifle and Pistol Shooting Championship at Indoor Shooting Range of Shrine Board Sports Complex, Katra as part of the coaching plan.
The competitions were organized in junior and sub junior categories in boys and girls sections.
In this championship, 17 boys in junior & sub junior categories and 13 girls in both the categories took part.
On the occasion, Dr. Arvind Karwani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer was the Chief Guest.
In junior boys category, Rifal shooting event, Sagar Gupta claimed 1 Gold Medal scoring 79 out of 100 points, Shubhashish bagged 1 silver medal scoring 76 out of 100 points, Harsh clinched 1 Bronze Medal scoring 75 out of 100 pointsa and Nitish bagged 1 Bronze Medal scoring 75 out of 100 points, while in girls junior category in Rifal shooting, Sonali Rajput won 1 Gold Medal scoring 79 out of 100 points, Pragya Verma claimed 1 Silver Medal scoring 53 out of 100 points, Nikita Kundal clinched 1 Bronze Medal scoring 39 out of 100 points.
In junior boys category Pistal shooting event,
Aryans bagged 1 Gold Medal scoring 4 out of 5 hit, Paras won 1 Silver Medal scoring 3 out of 5 hit, while in junior Girls category Pistal shooting event, Suneh Khajuria claimed 1 Gold Medal scoring 4 out of 5 hit, Pooja Lakhnotra won 1 Silver Medal scoring 3 out of 5 hit and Sunena Mangotra won 1 Bronze Medal scoring 2 out of 5 hit.
In sub junior boys’ category Pistal shooting event, Lucky won 1 Gold Medal scoring 3 out of 5 hit, Swanyan won 1 Silver Medal scoring 2 out of 5 hit and Shivansh claimed 1 Silver Medal scoring 2 out of 5 hit.
The championship was adjudicated by Naval Kisore, Tiwarni and Rishi Kumar.
In the prize distribution ceremony, Dr. Arvind Karwani and Director Sports presented medals to the position holders of the championship. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Karwani congratulated the Medalists and also complemented all participants for their active participation.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports said that they are hopeful of good results in the event which has Olympic recognition because the budding shooters are sincere and goal oriented.
