JAMMU, Jan 24: Lashing out at the State Government as well as upper castes for their sinister plot against caste based reservation, the Social Movement Party (SMP) said that as and when SMP comes into power in the State, ‘Reservation and Reservation in Promotion’ would be given to all the SCs, STs, OBCs and converted minorities without any delay and whole of the backlog quota would be filled within a period of just six months.
Addressing a press conference here today, National Secretary General of SMP, Advocate Ashok Kumar Basotra, expressed shock over the way the J&K State Government is dealing with the issue of “Reservation and Reservation in Promotion”.
He said that every political party including the present coalition “PDP-BJP” fetches votes of SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities constituting more than 90% of the total population of J&K ensuring them the implementation and safeguarding of their constitutional and fundamental rights in letter and spirit, but after forming the Government, they find out the pretexts, one after the other, to deprive these communities of their fundamental rights.
Basotra alleged that the present Government has connived with their upper caste brethren and formed an unholy alliance of “Joint Action Committee for Reservation on Economic Basis”. He said that members of this committee which belongs to various sabhas of upper castes are speaking against the Constitution of India which is anti-national move and they should be dealt in accordance with law very strictly.
Basotra said that all the so called upper caste people in India including all the politicians, bureaucrats, media persons and High Court and Supreme Court judges want to abolish “Reservation and Reservation in promotion” on the basis of caste, but none of them want to abolish caste from the social set up because they want to reap all the benefits out of this Manuwadi “socio-religious” system in India.
He requested all the SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities of the State not to vote such Manuwadi forces to power in future who or whose Sabhas/Biradaris oppose “Reservation and Reservation in Promotion” on caste basis till there is discrimination on caste basis in India.
