RAMBAN, Oct 25: With an aim to channelize energy of youth in nation building and eradicate drugs menace from the roots besides making a healthy and crime free society Swadeshi Manch Bharat (SMB) Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with J&K Police organised a cricket tourney at District Police Lines (DPL) ground, here.
DySP Headquarter Asgar Malik declared the cricket tournament open in which 30 teams from Chenab valley are participating.
In the inaugural tie, Ali Brother team won the match by defeating Maitra team.
State President SBM, J&K, Neeraj Singh, SHO Ramban, Vijay Kotwal, Dr Masood Iqbal and various prominent citizens and large number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DySP said that quality events are more important than the ones which involve quantity only.
He said that the main objective of the tournament is to infuse discipline and sports spirit among the youth, besides promoting sports culture.
While appreciating the role of Police, Neeraj said that Ramban Police under the supervision of SSP, Ramban, Anita Sharma launched a massive drive against drug paddling and now concentrating on getting feedback from the cutting edge level i.e. general public so that the required measures could be put in place to check the drug menace more effectively.
