JAMMU, Sept 8: The entire team of SKUAST Jammu Teachers Association, led by Vikas Sharma as the president,  has been re-elected for the second consecutive term.
The team was re-elected for the next three years during General Body Meeting (GBM)  of SKUAST-TAJ, in which  various issues pertaining to association and teaching fraternity were discussed before the election.
The meeting was attended by more than 200 Scientists from Agricultural and Veterinary faculty, Research Stations and KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu.
Dr  Vikas Sharma was unanimously re-elected as president of SKUAST- TAJ for another three years along with his executives.
Listing the achievements of SKUAST-TAJ,  Dr  Vikas Sharma  said that they have tried their level best to secure satisfactory conditions of work and service for the members of teaching association.  He further assured the Scientists that their professional interests will not be ignored at any cost in future and the association will work only for the welfare of teachers and overall development of the university.  “We succeeded in getting Baba Jito Auditorium, Career Advancement Scheme for Scientists and many more issues of teaching fraternity were solved during the last three years,” he said.
General Secretary of the Association Dr  Vivek M Aryan informed that during the term SKUAST-TAJ extended financial aid of Rs 6,20,000  to non teaching staff and students who were undergoing expensive life saving medical treatment in different known Medical Institutions of the country.  He also informed that Teaching Association constituted  blood donation committee / unit and created a data base of approximately two hundred blood donors comprising of 170 faculty members and 30 students.
More than a dozen agendas,  regarding Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy, Jammu Agricultural University, nomenclature of Guest House, Chatha were proposed in the meeting and  all the items were approved by the General House with thumping majority.
The proceedings of the programme were  conducted by Dr  Rajeev Sangra and Dr  Devinder Sharma.
Executive of the Association – Dr  Berjesh Ajrawat, Dr  Jai Kapoor, Dr  Muneeshwar Sharma, Dr  B  Brahma, Dr Isher, Dr  Sanjay Koushal, Dr Vijay Bahadur, Dr  Poonam Parihaar, Dr  Rohit Sharma, Dr  Puneet Choudhary were also present on the occasion. Dr  P K  Rai  presented vote of thanks.
