SKUAST-J starts campaign on winning note, defeats MPKV by 5 wkts

JAMMU, Dec 3: SKUAST-Jammu started its campaign in the Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament on a winning note by defeating MPKV Rahori, Pune by 5 wickets at Patiala.
After winning the toss, MPKV Rahori elected to bat first and scored 80 runs by losing all the wickets in the process.
For SKUAST-J side, Anoop, Manjeet and Nissar bowled brilliantly by drying up the scoring opportunities and picking wickets at regular intervals.
In the second inning, SKUAST-J chased the target in the 15th over by losing 5 wickets. At one stage SKUAST-J were 35 for 5 in the 8th over thereby creating some anxious moments but Manjeet Singh and Parveen Kumar played with immense responsibility and chased the target without losing any further wickets.
While Parveen played with caution and kept one end intact, Manjeet on the other hand played aggressively hitting some awesome shots in his innings of 28 not out of just 20 balls.
SKUAST-J will now play their second match on December 5 against Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Kewal K Raina accompanied the team as coach, Hardeep Singh as manager while Neeraj Gupta as assistant coach.
