Sizzling cultural items mark Power Grid’s Annual Festival

JAMMU, Dec 12: Attired in colorful dresses and presentation of sizzling cultural items by the emerging artists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, HP, Punjab and Haryana marked the Annual-Regional Cultural Festival, which was organized by Power Grid Corporation of India, Northern Region-II, here today.
The cultural festival and traditional handicrafts exhibition was held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University.
SK Sharma, Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System-II was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Meena Sharma, Patron Srishti Mahila Samiti NRTS-II was the guest of honour.
SK Sharma inaugurated the cultural meet whereas Meena Sharma inaugurated the Handicrafts Exhibition in presence of large number of guests, Power Grid employees and their families.
The cultural festival encompassing talent from four Northern States swayed the audience to the beats of colorful folk dances and songs highlighting rich composite culture of the Region. It was a major event for the employees and their family members as amateur talent of the Region gathered to highlight their cultural traditions. The cultural programmes were showcased on hot burning issues like, environment, national integration, conservation of water, drug abuse, farmer suicides, dowry system, etc.
All the items including Teen Rango Se Juda Hai Bharat by young artists of Kishenpur Sub Station, Apna Apna Hisa by Panchkula Sub Station, Bharat Mein Churhi Bananey Ka Udyog by the artists of Kartarpur Sub Station, Shrap by Nalagarh Sub Station, Andha Samaj by Patiala Sub Station, Neer Nirupam by Bhadhurgarh Sub Station, Mukti by the artists of Moga Sub Station, Dhulhan Hi Dhahej Hai by Wagoora Sub Station, Jal Nahi To Kal Nahi by artists of Hisar and To Kyoun Chunna Pade Use Shamshan by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu left the audience spell bound.
Besides these, a traditional Handicrafts Exhibition comprising crafts, arts and line arts made by the employees of Power Grid and their families was displayed.
Later, the winners as well as participants of cultural function and top three in Handicraft Exhibition were presented trophies and mementos by the SK Sharma and other disgnitaries.
Earlier, R Narayan, Chief Manager (HR), NRTS-II presented the welcome address.
Amarjit, General Manager, AK Pal, General Manager (AM), SD Joshi, General Manager (Projects) and other senior officers of the Corporation were also present on the occasion.
