SRINAGAR, Nov 23: The Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) RR Bhatnagar today said that this year security forces have achieved major successes against militants which has led to improvement in security situation in Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in South Kashmir, the DG CRPF said that operations against the militants will continue. “This year, 195 militants were killed. They include top commanders of JeM, HM and LeT. Security forces have achieved these major successes this year and will continue their operations against the militants”, he said.
Bhatnagar said that successes were achieved due to coordination between various security agencies. “The security situation is improving with the successful operations of the security forces and this is possible due to coordination between various security agencies”, he added.
He said that the law and order situation has also improved and stone pelting incidents have dropped.
“The security forces including CRPF and police have now expertise in dealing with law and order situation. The security forces are maintaining utmost restraint to deal with law and order situation”, he said.
The DG CRPF appealed to local militants to shun the path of violence for their own good and for the welfare of State and their families. “They should shun violence, it is in the interest of the State and people of this place. They should chose right path for their own future, for their families and welfare of the State”, he said.
In the meantime, security forces today resumed massive search operation in the forest area in the frontier district of Kupwara, where four militants, including an infiltrator, were killed in two different encounters during last three days.
In the meantime, security forces today continued searches for infiltrators in Keran sector of Kupwara where a militant and a soldier were killed along Line of Control (LoC) yesterday.
The search operation that was launched yesterday near Chunkun post in Farkian Gali of Keran, where a group of infiltrators was intercepted, continued today.
Another massive search operation in Zirhama area of Kupwara district continued for third day today. The operation was launched two days ago in which a para-commando was killed and two soldiers were injured. Sources said that a militant group of Lashkar-e-Toiba headed by Saifullah were on their way towards Line of Control (LoC) to receive a group of infiltrators when security forces got an input and launched searches in the area.
Another operation launched by security forces in Rajwar forests of Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara three days back after reports of presence of a heavily armed militant group continued today.
The operation was launched by Handwara Police, 21-RR,32-RR,6-RR of Army,30 and 92 Battalions of  CRPF in the forest Compartment of 8,9,10 and 11 in Handwara. This is one of the major operations that has been launched this year.
And Army today paid tributes to two soldiers who were killed in separate encounters with militants in the Kupwara district over the past two days.
General Officer Commanding of Chinar Corps Lt Gen J S Sandhu led all ranks in paying homage to Rifleman Jitender Kumar and Sepoy Mandeep Singh.
Kumar laid down his life battling militants at Zirhama on November 21 while Singh was killed as Army foiled an infiltration bid in Keran sector yesterday.
Officials and representatives from the State Government and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the deceased soldiers.
Kumar, 23, had joined Army in 2014 and hailed from village Shaulana in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by parents, one brother and one sister.
Singh, 32, hailed from village Chahal Khurd in Gurdaspur district of Punjab and had joined Army in 2004. He is survived by his wife and a son, the official said.
“The mortal remains of the martyrs were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the families of the brave hearts and remains committed to their dignity and well being,” the GOC added.
