JAMMU, Feb 21: Expressing that situation was alarming in the State, Executive body of the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has appealed the Government to take affective steps to contain the situation.
In a special meeting held under the president and former minister Th Gulchain Singh Charak to review the various disturbing incidents here, the members condemned the cowardly terrorists’ attack on the family accommodation inside Sunjuwan Cantt and expressed concern over the statement of the Defence Minister about involvement of ‘local insiders’. Members called it disturbing and sought clarification since such statement creates mutual ‘suspicion’ and disturb peace in the region.
Later, talking to media persons Charak said it was highly deplorable and disgusting that when the bodies of the martyred Indian soldiers were being moved, an MLA was raising “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans inside the Legislative Assembly. The MLA, Mohd Akbar Lone has been a Speaker of the House and such anti-national stance by him amounts to ‘sedition’ said some members. It is not only a matter of shame and treachery for the member who is on oath to the constitution of India, but also a slur on all the members present in the House who were spectators to it. They should have demanded action or else quit their membership in case no action was initiated by the Speaker.
Syed Amanat Ali Shah strongly criticized the laxity in security by the Army after similar attacks had happened earlier at Kaluchak, Sunjuwan itself and Tanda and blamed them for not learning the lessons from past. Col (Dr) Virendra K Sahi, brought out that these terrorists have moved in from South Kashmir and blamed the civil administration for their failure to fix full truck scanners in Jawahar tunnel and not erecting the 200 surveillance towers in Jammu region, although both projects are approved on papers and money for security is paid by New Delhi.
The meeting also resolved to hold the general body meeting on March 25, 2018 at 10 AM where members from the global chapters of DSS were expected along with some PoJK delegates.
