Simula Cricket Club wins 5th Christmas T20 Cup

JAMMU, Dec 15: Simula Cricket Club trounced Road & Safety XI by 55 runs to lift the title trophy of the 5th Christmas T20 Cricket Tournament, organized jointly by Christian Sports Organization Jammu and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu and supported by Diocese of J&K. Click here to watch video
The slogan of the tournament was ‘Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs’.
Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Trophy Player was the Organizing Secretary of the event.
The sponsors of the event were Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank and Canara Bank.
Earlier, in the final match, Simula Cricket Club defeated Road & Safety Cricket XI by 55 runs.
Batting first, Simula Cricket club scored 160 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 18 overs. In reply, Road & Safety XI managed to score 105 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 18 overs, thus lost the match by 55 runs.
Akash Choudhary was declared as the man of the match and best bowler, Atul was adjudged as the best batsman and Shashi was declared as the man of the series.
Dr SD Singh Jamwal and Fr Kuriakose, Chairman Chistian Sports Organisation were the guests of honour. They distributed trophies in presence of Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI and Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, SSP Rashmi Wazir, SSP Anita Sharma, SSP Randeep, SSP Ashok Sharma, SSP Traffic Nisha Nathyal, SP City Vinod Kumar, SP ML Kaith, Victor Sotra, Asif Gill, Sunny Gill, Sunil Sambyal and Rajesh Gill.
Earlier Fr. Kuriakose presented detailed report of the event and highlighted the objective of the Tournament.
J&K Police Home Guards and Sports Council J&K will organize a mega cricket event namely Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League for Women at Parade Ground Jammu from December 17, 2017 in which players from Bangladesh, Nepal, besides all states of the country including hosts J&K will participate.
