Simula Club lifts 6th Christmas T20 Championship title

JAMMU, Dec 16: Simula Club trounced KC Sports Cricket Club by 7 wickets and lifted the title trophy of the 6th Christmas T20 Cricket Championship, organized under the banner of Christian Sports Organization Jammu, Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu and supported by Diocese of Jammu at parade ground, here today.
On the valedictory function, Dr SD Singh Jamwal IGP Jammu was the chief guest, while Dr Vivek Gupta DIG Jammu and Fr Kuriakose were the guests of honour. SSP RK Bhat, Ranjeet Kalra Member JKCA and Amritpal Singh were the special guests. Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, DySP Varun Jandial, SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Varinder Gupta, SI Vijay Kumar, Asif Gill, Victor Sotra, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi, Sunny Gill and many others were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the opening of the final match, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation was the chief guest while Senior BJP Leader Yudhveer Sethi and Anil Corporator of the area were the special guests.
While speaking, Gupta assured the cricketers that all the required arrangements at parade cricket ground with proper infrastructure will be provided through Government for the benefit of the cricketers.
In the summit clash, KC Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 143 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhinav Puri was top scorer with 57 runs, while Vijay scored 38 runs and Arjun Choudhary made 20 runs.
From bowling side, Shashi took 3 wickets while Ritik, Kuldeep and Vicky scalped 1 wicket each.
In reply, Simula Cricket Club chased the target in 18.3 overs by losing 3 wickets thus won the match by 7 wickets. Shashi chipped in 57 runs, while Raman scored 31 runs and Satish made 22 runs.
From the bowling side, Vijay and Gagan took 1 wicket each.
Shahsi was adjudged as Man of the Match in final, Gagan of KC was declared as Best Bowler, Arjun Choudhary of KC Club as Best Batsman and Raman Dutta as Man of the Series. Cash prize of Rs 20,000 was awarded to the winner team, while Rs 10,000 to runner up team.
In an exhibition match of U-10 boys, Vishal Club Juniors defeated MIER Cricket Academy by runs.
Batting first, Vishal Scored 79 runs in 15 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Shouraya made 33 runs, while Kartik Gill scored 16 runs and Gurtaj made 12 runs.
From bowling side, Kaniya took 2 wickets, Abhi Udhay scalped 1 wicket.
In reply, MIER managed to score 75 runs thus lost the match by 4 runs. Aryan made 24 runs, Kaniya scored 22 runs and Rudra made 14 runs.
From bowling side, Daman Preet and Sarthak took 1 wicket each. Man of the match was given to Shouraya.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Husain, Ashok Kumar, Sanju and Vijay, whereas the proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by famous anchor Victor Sotra.
