JAMMU, Apr 10: ‘Silk & Cotton Expo’, an exhibition of Silk & Cotton-Wear, showcasing the best of dress material from across the country, is underway at Jhelum Resorts, opposite Bahu Plaza, Extension Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Spearheaded by Rashtriya Sanskriti Samaj Avom Sabhayata, New Delhi, the exhibition is displaying work from the finest designers in the country. Around 50 stalls are offering various lifestyle products. The exhibition also has an endless number of hand-loom items at display.
Pick and choose from innumerable colours in countless designs, Jaipur mal-mal & block print fabric, Pakistani style designer suits, kurties, Readymade suites, chikan embroidery fabric by Sultan Ji from Mumbai, jewellery, fashion accessories, home decor, silk dress material, bed sheets, table ware, linen, etc; it is a real treat to the style hungry eves.
Besides fabrics, Silk & Cotton Expo also showcases ready-to-wear ladies kurtis, salwar kameez, special dupattas, kids ethnic-wear and much more. A big attraction is the ethnic ghaghra choli and dhoti-kurta for the children. A shopping heaven for the boutique owners, Rajasthan Kota doria, chanderi, bhagalpur silk from Bihar, Gujarati handloom products, phool-pati work from Rampur as well as Aligarh and garments with phulkari work from Patiala are a huge hit with customers.
“In this exhibition we have added special engraved designer jewellery after studying the Jammu market”, says Rakesh, president of the society. In the home section, one could get Khekra bed cover, Gudari, table-cloths, printed and woven bedcovers. The exhibition will last till April 16.
