The 6 kilometers long Seri-Chatra road, which was taken up under PMGSY scheme in the year 2009 was supposed to be completed in 18 months, but after taking 3 years to just complete the 1st phase which include earthwork, the work on the said road was suspended in 2012 due to some unknown reasons, sending the more than 2500 population of 3 panchayats in tizzy.
The people of Seri, Bharova, Shaiya and Chatra villages, who after making all out efforts after running from pillar to post for completion of the road from last 5 years have made up their mind that their road will be never completed, but off late they saw a new ray of hope after PMGSY started work on the 2nd phase of the said road recently.
“The work on 2nd phase got delayed due to some unavoidable circumstances including court cases and land disputes ,but now everything has been settled down and we have started the work on war-footing and are hopeful to complete the work by October end this year”, said AEE PMGSY Doda, Atta Mohammad Sheikh.
After completion, this road will provide all time weather connectivity to half a dozen villages and several hamlets of 3 Panchayats, besides to Government High School Chatra and Government Dispensary. The villagers, who are traditional vegetable and fruit growers will be able to transport their fruits in hassle free manner”, he added.
