Sidharth’s performance guides Young Star Club to get berth in semis

KATHUA, Apr 14: Outclass batting and bowling performance by Sidharth guided Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) to register 41 runs victory over Khalsa Cricket Club (KCC) and registered berth in the semis of the ongoing Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tawi Organising Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports Stadium, here today.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, Young Star Cricket Club scored 168 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Gurdeep played some crispy shots and chipped in 43 runs including three balls towards the fence, while Sidharth also played well and scored 33 runs with the help of two boundaries and one lofty six. Bansi Lal also contributed 32 runs with the help of three boundaries.
For Khalsa Cricket Club side, Amarjeet was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, while Nitin took one wicket by conceding 27 runs in his four overs spell.
In the second inning, Khalsa Cricket Club failed to chase the target and bundled out at 127 runs for all out in 18.5 overs. Ishan was the top scorer with 34 runs including three boundaries and two crispy sixes, while Nitin contributed 29 runs with the help of three boundaries. Harinder also made 17 runs.
For Young Star Cricket Club side, Sidharth was the wrecker-in-chief, who took four wickets by giving just 16 runs in 3.5 overs, while Kaka also proved his mantle and scalped 3 wickets by conceding just 19 runs in his four overs spell. Manjeet also scalped 2 wickets.
The match was officiated by KV Singh and Anoop Sharma as umpires, while Kulbhushan Singh maintained the scorecard.
Sidharth of Young Star Cricket Club was declared as man of the match for his all round performance and was awarded with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 500 by Shashi Pal, President, Tawi Organizing Committee and Rattan Bharti, Vice President.
Meanwhile, NCC got walkover against Rainwari Cricket Club (RCC), as the latter failed to report to the venue.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Stadium XI Seniors will lock horns with RCC Kathua.
