Shut down in Leh against molestation of MBBS student

JAMMU, Jan 7: A shutdown was today observed in Leh by political parties against the alleged molestation of an MBBS student by a senior faculty member at the Government Medical College in Jammu, demanding the immediate termination of the accused and appointment of a special prosecutor in the case.
The protest was organised by Ladakh Regional Joint Action Committee, comprising youth wings of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Anjuman Imamia, and BJP and Congress in Leh district.
The market in Leh district was shut down in protest against the alleged molestation of the final year student. The committee later submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to regional authorities at Leh.
They demanded the setting up of a fast-track court, an SIT to probe the matter and appointment of a special prosecutor.
