KATRA, Feb 20: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised a day-long on-the-site in-house training programme in Basic Life Support for its employees at Bhawan.
This training programme was organised by the Shrine Board as part of Disaster Management preparedness by building capacities of its employees as medical first responders to provide immediate basic life support by way of applying Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations. In all, 50 employees working at Bhawan, Bhairon Complex, Sanjichhat, Himkoti and Saket were imparted training in CPR by a medical team headed by Dr. Nandita Mehta, Professor and Head of Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu.
In addition, two Medical Officers and four paramedics working in the various Medical Units of the Shrine Board were also associated with this training programme and they will be involved as Master Trainers on Basic Life Support /First Aid at various locations to be held in future.
The training programme was organised under the supervision of Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. CEO, SMVDSB and  Duni Chand, Tehsildar, Bhawan, were among those present on the occasion.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board informed that the Board has been organising similar training programmes for its staff on regular basis as per Disaster Management Plan of the Board. These programmes cover varied aspects of Disaster Management with the help of external experts and through its own Master Trainers. He added that the endeavour is to train all the 3000 employees and other stakeholders in Basic Life Support/ First Aid in a phased manner.
