Shreya Gupta receives best player trophy in National Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 18: A class 8th student of Presentation Convent, Jammu Shreya Gupta brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by winning 3 Gold medals and 1 Bronze medal in Sabre event during 19th Sub Junior and 14th Cadet National Fencing Championship held at Gwalior. She was awarded best player trophy in the Championship.
Yesterday, Shreya got the gold by winning the Individual Sub Junior final by defeating fencer from Haryana with a big margin of 15-4 whereas in final of Sub Junior team event against Tamil Naidu, she helped the J&K team to clinch the gold by outclassing her opponent with a huge margin.
At one stage, J&K was reeling at 4-10 but Shreya remarkably recovered and won the Sub Junior gold for the team by making the score 15-10.
Shreya had already won 1 Gold medal in individual and 1 Bronze medal in team event of Cadet Category. By her extraordinary achievements, Shreya was awarded best player trophy of the championships and J&K received runner up trophy in Sub Junior category.
Parents of Shreya Gupta namely Sanjay Gupta and Rashmi Mahajan contributed her success to hard work and guidance of coach Shotu Lal Sharma and Rashid Ahmed, an international fencer.
