SHRC directs IG Crime to hold enquiry

JAMMU, Mar 15: State Human Rights Commission has directed Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch to hold an enquiry into lapses committed by various officers in appointment of SPOs.
The direction was issued in a complaint filed by a social worker Subash, who alleged that several blue-eyed persons have been appointed as SPOs.
After going through the complaint, Member SHRC Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal directed Inspector General of Police Crime Branch to hold an enquiry regarding lapses committed by the various officers during that tenure and fix the responsibility.
IGP Jammu Range was also directed to provide all assistance to Inspector General of Police Crime in the enquiry. “The Inspector General of Police shall submit the report on the next date—May 11, 2017”, SHRC said, adding “IG Crime shall not delegate the powers to any subordinate officer in this regard and shall conduct the inquiry himself. Asaf Iqbal Malik, Presenting Officer shall liaise with IG Crime and provide the material from the file whatever is necessary”.
