SAMBA, Apr 23: The farmers in border area of Ramgarh are demanding establishment of Fire Station in the town in view of the damage caused to standing ripe crops during the accidental fire or short circuit of low lying high tension and low tension electric wires.
The inhabitants of the Ramgarh tehsil in an appeal to Government are demanding immediate setting up of Fire Station at Ramgarh so that the people of the area have not to face problems in fighting the fire.
The farmers of the area said that despite their appeals to the PDD no steps were taken to change the electric lines lying in precarious manner which has been the main cause of fire and damaged the standing crop on vast land last year.
They said that the transformers are also in precarious manner with their wires also touching the ground at various places. They said that the establishment of Fire Station at Ramgarh has been the need of the hour as people apprehend damage to the wheat crop which is to be harvested within days now.
The people warned to launch a protest in case the demand was not conceded.
